A hosted desktop - the future for office work
A hosted desktop enables you to access your IT data and applications at any time from any anywhere with an Internet enabled device and Internet connection. It replaces the “traditional” office network environment with a hosted desktop, “Desktop in the Cloud”. This will look and feel exactly the same as a normal Windows desktop PC. As well as having access from virtually anywhere, it gives you complete disaster protection as you are not relying upon one computer in a single office. A remote desktop will save you money on hardware – you can use thin clients instead of more expensive PCs, plus you will save on energy costs too, as you will not need to run your own server 24/7. Every second Apple makes a profit of £1,528
Shares in Apple rose more than 6pc after the company posted a record-breaking set of quarterly results, with sales of the iPhone 6 growing well ahead of expectations. The technology giant said that sales rose 29.5pc in the final three months of 2014 to $74.6bn (£48bn), easily beating Wall Street predictions that sales would reach $67.7bn. The surge in sales drove the company's net income up from $13.1bn to $18bn in the quarter, the biggest ever quarterly profit reported by a company. Tim Cook, chief executive, also confirmed that the highly-anticipated Apple Watch will go on sale from April, slightly later than the expected March launch date. Apple said it sold a record 74.5m iPhones during the quarter - the equivalent of 34,000 per hour - significantly ahead of forecasts that it would sell 65m. Tim Cook said it had been an “incredible quarter”. He stated: “We’d like to thank our customers for an incredible quarter, which saw demand for Apple products soar to an all-time high. “Our revenue grew 30pc over last year to $74.bn, and the execution by our teams to achieve these results was simply phenomenal.” However, Luca Maestri, the chief financial officer, said that iPhone sales in China did not overtake those in the US, despite predictions by analysts that they would.... read more here - - - - - -

Twitter's 30-second video share
Twitter is expanding the features of its apps and website yet again, this time adding group messages and 30-second videos. Twitter said it would create a way for people to privately send messages to groups -- instead of just to individuals -- as well as expand its video offerings. Starting Tuesday, those features will be available to customers on most devices, including those from Apple and those powered by Google's Android operating system. The refinements come as fears continue to build about Twitter's ability to expand both its number of users and their activity while also attracting advertisers. The company has grappled with inconsistent user growth, most recently tallying 284 million users who logged into the site at least once a day in the third quarter -- a 23 percent jump from a year earlier. Investors, who aren't convinced that Twitter can keep boosting user growth, have pushed down the company's stock more than 35 percent over the past year. By letting people shoot, edit and post their own videos from within the Twitter app, the company has a potential to both attract advertisers and increase usage of its platform. Twitter focused its engineering efforts on making it as easy as possible for people to shoot and share video, said Jinen Kamdar, a product director the social network. read more here.
