At AMA we have over 25 years of experience in helping businesses to use IT to increase their efficiency and we LOVE Opera 3. Hundreds of our customers use it on a daily basis and could not manage all the areas of our business without it.
We've had a number of customers recently who have been experiencing problems due to the age of their hardware. We normally recommend that you budget to replace your hardware every 4/5 years. You may be lucky enough to keep your systems running for longer, but you’d be restricting your company to ageing features and functionality. We've listed some examples of why you should upgrade below.
Modern backup technology - allows us to rebuild a failed server in a couple of hours. Compare this to the old tape backup mechanism, where it can take 2 or 3 days to rebuild a server in the event of a hard disk failure. Can you afford the downtime?
The latest software will sometimes not run on these older machines - For example, Office 2013 requires a PC capable of running at least Windows 7. Pegasus Opera is no longer supported on Windows 2000 machines.
If the equipment is not up to the task - it can significantly reduce performance, reduce employee productivity and increase long term costs.
